Polymaker is excited to introduce Fiberon™ PA612-ESD, our latest innovation in special purpose 3D printing filaments designed to meet the demanding needs of sensitive electronic environments.
What is PA612-ESD?
This new nylon-based filament offers a unique combination of excellent electrostatic discharge (ESD) safety, mechanical strength, and high heat resistance, overcoming the typical compromises users faced with previous ESD-safe materials.
Enhanced with carbon nanotubes (CNT) and 10% carbon fiber (CF), it provides superior heat resistance and optimized static dissipation, ensuring reliable performance across a wide range of industrial and electronic environments.
What makes PA612-ESD unique?
PA612-ESD has a heat resistance of up to 157°C allowing for you to use it for high heat environments while maintaining ESD safe properties. Along with its high heat resistance, Fiberon™ PA612-ESD offers enhanced wear resistance and rigidity, meaning it is capable of meeting engineering needs for your print to be strong as well.
Before the arrival of Fiberon™ PA612-ESD, customers had to accept trade-offs between mechanical performance and ESD safety. Now, this advanced filament offers a comprehensive solution that does not force such compromises, enabling engineers and manufacturers to produce robust, heat-resistant, and static-safe parts with confidence.
How does PA612-ESD compare to PETG-ESD?
PETG-ESD has a very limited heat resistance of only 76°C, meaning Fiberon™ PA612-ESD can withstand more than double the heat of PETG-ESD. Along with the much higher heat resistance, PA612-ESD is more wear resistant, much more rigid, and even has a higher tensile strength.
This means that Fiberon™ PA612-ESD can meet engineering requirements that other ESD materials like PETG-ESD cannot meet.
What are the recommended print settings for PA612-ESD?
Fiberon™ PA612-ESD will print with very similar settings to other nylon materials offered by Polymaker:
Nozzle: 280-300°C
Build Plate: 40-50°C
Chamber Temp: Room temperature
Printing Speeds: Up to 300mm/s
Are there any special requirements to print PA612-ESD?
Since PA612-ESD is a nylon material, it means that it is very susceptible to moisture. This means it is highly recommended that you use this product in conjunction with a filament dryer.
Other requirements are a hotend that can reach 280-300°C along with a hardened steel nozzle. No enclosure required!
After printing it is highly recommended to anneal the print at 100°C for 16 hours, and then allow the part to moisture condition to get the full strength characteristics and heat resistance.
What applications are great for PA612-ESD?
If you require your part to be ESD safe, particularly if you require high heat resistance and/or wear resistance, then PA612-ESD would work great for you. Some potential applications include:
· Any ESD applications
· PCB manufacturing
· PCB storage
· High friction clean room environments
· Structural components
· Industrial fixtures
· High-wear applications
· Anything requiring mechanical durability and static dissipation
